RENTING, LEASING AND FACTORING COMPANIES WITH MORE THAN 20 SOLIDARITY ACTIONS

Monetary donations to public hospitals or the provision of vehicles to volunteer organizations are some of dozens of initiatives to support civil society that the institutions that make up the Portuguese Leasing, Factoring and Renting Association (ALF) are carrying out during this period of pandemic crisis. The aim is to strengthen these contributions over the coming months.

The difficult times the world faces due to the Covid-19 Pandemic are driving the proliferation of demonstrations of support and the contribution of resources by the institutions of the Leasing, Factoring and Renting sectors.

In addition to moratoriums, credit lines, advance payments to suppliers, offers of insurance to volunteers, among other financial measures to support the economy, ALF members are developing actions to support national efforts to combat the epidemic outbreak. Dedicated in particular to front line health professionals, some actions include the donation of monetary amounts to institutions such as the Lisbon Contingency Structure Hospital and the National Health Service, as well as to various hospital units (Curry Cabral Hospital, Dona Estefânia Hospital and Pedro Hispano Hospital), and support to initiatives to collect donations such as the SOS-Coronavirus promoted by AEP in partnership with the Ordem dos Médicos (Portuguese Medical Association). Funds were also donated in order to make up for the lack of hospital supplies, ventilators and protective materials, and to support the investigation of the virus in collaboration with universities and other organizations.

Support for the most vulnerable groups is also among the priorities of the ALF members, which have made donations to organizations such as the Academy of Champs, the ASBIHP - Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Portugal, the Food Bank, the Red Cross, the Caritas Archdiocesan of Évora, the Sacred Family Center, the Association for the Integration and Support of the Young and Adult Mentally Disabled or FESS (Emergency Fund for the Solidarity Sector), among others.

In order for several associations to continue to provide support to the population in situations of homelessness or social vulnerability, vehicles are made available by members of the Renting sector. Institutions such as the Lisbon City Council, the Oeiras City Council, the Vida e Paz Community, the Santa Maria Hospital Volunteer Group and the association “Novamente” see their mobility and logistics needs supported.

ALF members also collaborated in fundraising campaigns for associations such as AMI - "Friends are for the Occasions", COVID 19 - "Portugal COVID-19 Emergency - It's Time to Act", in the fundraising campaign "United for Portugal” from SIC Esperança and the Portuguese Football Federation, as well as in the distribution of materials, such as computers, to various non-profit organizations and to students in more vulnerable economic situations. Prizes were also created for initiatives with a social impact, promoted by university students and other members of the academic community in this pandemic context.

ALD Automotive, Arval, Banco Montepio, BNP Paribas Factor, LeasePlan, Millennium BCP, Novo Banco and Santander are ALF's member institutions responsible for dozens of solidarity actions in progress.
